Title of Class Offered: Construction Tech 1: First-year students

Prerequisites: None

Class Description: During this introductory course, students will develop knowledge of building trades safety, construction math, tools and construction materials, employability. They will be introduced to the ICC-700 National Green Building Standards, as well as the Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT) curriculum and the Skill Achievement Records (SARs) process for certification. Students will study theory and practices of building for a range of industry trades and gain knowledge of a variety of industry careers.

Class Description: During this second course in the program, students will continue to develop knowledge of building trades safety, construction math, tools and construction materials, employability. They will begin developing core knowledge in the specific trades of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Additionally, they will be introduced to the finishing standards for brick masonry, landscaping, painting and finishing, facilities maintenance and weatherization.

 

Title of Class Offered: Construction Tech 3: Second-year students

Prerequisites: None

Class Description: During this third course in the program, students will work toward PACT certification and mastery of specific trade elements. They will continue to specialize in the understanding of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Students will work toward acquiring on or more of the trade specific PACT certifications. Classroom emphasis will be on teamwork and collaborative project-based instruction. Students will work toward finalization of brick masonry, landscaping, painting and finishing, facilities maintenance and weatherization skills. Students will work toward finalization of the NGBS certificate.

 

Title of Class Offered: Construction Tech 4: Second-year students

Prerequisites: None

Class Description: During this fourth course in the program, students will work toward PACT certification and mastery of specific trade elements. They will continue to specialize in the understanding of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. Students will work toward acquiring on or more of the trade specific PACT certifications. Classroom emphasis will be on teamwork and collaborative project-based instruction. Students will work to finalize knowledge of brick masonry, landscaping, painting and finishing, facilities maintenance and weatherization skills. Students will complete certification requirements for the NGBS certificate.

Class Description: During this subsequent knowledge of building materials, employability Trades of carpentry requires two class will be eligible for college credit.

Prerequisites: HBA/HBI Construction Tech 1 and 2

Class Description: During this subsequent course in the program, students will continue to develop knowledge of building trades’ safety, construction math, tolls and construction materials, employability. They will begin developing core knowledge in the specific trades of carpentry and advanced construction. This course is a blocked course and requires two class periods back to back each semester. It is two credits. Completers will be eligible for advanced Home Builders Institute certification and additional college credit.

Prerequisites: HBA/HBI Construction Tech 1 and 2

Class Description: During this subsequent course in the program, students will continue to develop knowledge of building trades’ safety, construction math, tools and construction materials, employability. The will begin developing core knowledge in the specific trades of carpentry and advanced construction. This course is a blocked course and requires two class periods back to back each semester. It is two credits. Completers will be eligible for advanced Home Builders Institute certification and additional college credit.
